Lorikeet is well away from the busyness of the main road, which is still within walking distance. The outlook from the lounge window is across a newly planted native garden to the vines under cultivation, which change their appearance with the seasons.

Kookaburra Cottage

Garden setting with modern self-contained two bedroom weatherboard cottage

Kookaburra Cottage is set amidst a native garden with some pungent fragrances wafting around the front door. Kookaburra is adjacent to the mini orchard area where newly planted dwarf fruit trees are being established. Herb and vegetable garden beds have been planted, adjacent to the Chicken Cottage (in keeping with the Bird Theme). Kookaburra is the cottage where ‘early birds’ are most likely to hear ‘Boss Man’, our rooster as he announces his presence and keeps his seven ‘girls’ in line and lets us know they are waiting to be let out for the day.

Being a bit closer to the road, Kookaburra is a short walk to the award-winning hotel on the other side of the highway, no need for taxis or long walks after wining and dining at the Sevenhill Hotel or delicious lunch or morning/ afternoon tea at Little Red Grape.

Kookaburra is a modern self- contained weatherboard cottage which in winter is kept toasty warm by a slow combustion heater with ample firewood for a two-night stay. Wine and cheese in front of a cosy fire is an amazing way to start or end your winter getaway in Kookaburra. From the Anzac Day Long Weekend until the Labour Day Long Weekend (and unseasonable cold weather outside that time), a basket of firewood and kindling, placed adjacent to the heater for setting a quick fire. An additional box of wood is placed under the carport for use in the slow combustion heater or maybe in the firepit, if preferred.

The fittings are modern with comfy beds and sofas, a fully functional kitchen with numerous appliances large and small, a separate bathroom and toilet, laundry area with an automatic front-loading washing machine, an open lounge / dining area with reverse cycle air conditioning.
